Action for Healthy Kids, a leading national nonprofit organization fighting childhood obesity and undernourishment, has elected Reginald L. Washington, MD, chairperson of its Board of Directors and Roel A. Gonzalez as vice chairperson. Jean Ragalie, RD, was re-elected secretary and treasurer.
Dr. Washington is the chief medical officer of the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in Denver, Colorado. He is also a clinical professor in the Department of Pediatrics at University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center and a member of the Obesity Expert Consultant Group for the American Academy of Pediatrics. Mr. Gonzalez is superintendent of the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School
District in Texas. He is a nationally recognized leader in helping students and their schools be healthier and was honored as 2008 Texas State Superintendent of the Year. Ms. Ragalie is executive vice-president of Dairy Health and Wellness at National Dairy Council.

for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. "With their guidance, Action for Healthy Kids is positioned to work with 25,000 schools or more over the next three years, reaching 10 million children with our agenda to make schools and children healthy and ready to learn."
Four new directors were also named to Action for Healthy Kids’ Board: Jay McHale, president of equity services at Computershare; Julie O’Donnell Allen, counsel at Sidley Austin LLP; Katie Wilson, PhD, SNS,
director of school nutrition at Onalaska (WI) School District; and Antronette K. Yancey, MD, MPH, professor at the UCLA School of Public Health.

"Action for Healthy Kids is uniquely positioned to decrease the incidence of obesity and undernourishment in our youth and our Board is committed to this goal.
